Socktober
By: Markayla Graves
For the month of October the National Junior Honor Society is celebrating Socktober and so is the whole school! During Socktober, students are hoping to collect 300 socks for Mount Carmel to give to families in need. If your class has the potential, you can earn popcorn, popsicles, and a dress down pass.
You can start donating now all the way until October 31. Socktober will impact on your life by showing you how to care for others. It also shows you how to do charity and shows that there is kindness in humanity. It is an effort to get many people possible to step up and participate.
The National Junior Honor Society is in charge of this community service project. D’Marcus Craig stated “I think it’s good to help the homeless.” He also stated that kids go around and collecting the socks from each class and returning them to Mrs. Thomas. He said “I could help by getting other people to help, make sure everyone knows about it and I want it to be really organized. It’s pretty cool to help.”
“I mostly wonder how they thought of the idea and how they did it. I could help by getting other people to help, make sure everyone knows about it and I want it to be really organized.” So what are you waiting for? Get to collecting those socks!
