Book Review: The Hobbit
By Seth Campbell
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien is a great adventure told by a great author. The story is interesting, invigorating and creative. Said to be the greatest adventure of our time(which is most likely true), the Hobbit is about Bilbo Baggins, a normal Hobbit in the fantasy village of the Shire. He is out one day, enjoying a nice morning, comes across the wizard Gandalf. After having a small conversation, Bilbo invites Gandalf for tea. What he didn't know was that Gandalf brought some friends with him.
Soon Bilbo is housing Gandalf and thirteen barbaric dwarves. Somehow he has seemingly agreed to go on an adventure. Hobbits do not like adventures, they "make you late for dinner", as Bilbo states. He is dragged along as a "burglar" with the company of dwarves.
The pros of reading this book are many: interesting, clever, classic fantasy elements, descriptive, nicely paced, hooking, and worded smartly.
The only con is really that it's not very modern in the language.
These are the reasons that you should read or not read the Hobbit.
