CHAMPS For A Change
Shelbie Miller and Ana Vasquez
October 9, 2014 the EMS staff held the Champs Celebration. This event celebrated students who had no referrals between September 22 and October 9. The events included a dance, a movie, and gym activities.
According to Mrs.Dorian, the celebration really affected students behavioral problems. Some of the students who had behavioral problems in the past pulled it together to be able to attend the celebration.
D'Anthony Williams stated that,"Sometimes I'm lazy and don't do my work, but I try to get good grades to get into fun things at school when they happen."
Some of the Eisenhower Middle School students decided to attend the movie, “Hotel Transylvania”. Kaylei Freemen exclaimed,”I loved the movie because it was exciting!”
Another option for the students was to play in the gym.
Students there played ping pong, volleyball, and basketball. 7th Grader, Angel Bailey stated,”I wish they also had football and tug of war, because both of these games are really fun.”
Angel added that she did not enjoy it that much because she thought it was boring.
The last superb choice was the dance in the cafeteria.
Da’Leana Sullivan remarked,”They played popular music, like the kind of music they often play on the radio.” Da’Leana also said,”Yes, I did dance and we did the Nae Nae,Twerk, and other popular dance moves.”
In conclusion, even though the Champs Celebration had its ups and downs, it was a success. The students for the most part had fun and enjoyed the break from schoolwork. In addition, Mrs.Dorian also stated that they are planning to have more events in the future.
